De-Stress Secrets To Support Body & Mind
Sadly stress seems to be an unavoidable and accepted side effect of modern living. So much so that many people may not realise the amount of stress they deal with daily, or the impact it could be having on their health, energy, shape and quality of life.
During times of stress the body enters “fight or flight” mode and secretes cortisol and adrenaline. These hormones flood the body and move blood flow away from ‘non-essential’ functions, such as digestion and reproduction, and into your muscles to provide them with sufficient fuel for you to run away from a lion chasing you!
Life has obviously evolved greatly since caveman days, however our bodies have not. The ‘fight or flight” response is only supposed to be active for about 30 seconds at a time, yet many people are likely to be living in an almost permanent state of stress. This can lead to increased blood pressure, blood sugar levels, plus unhealthy body fat on the stomach and around your vital organs.
In an attempt to counter the effects of stress Mindfulness has become mainstream over the past few years. It offers a way to regain some inner calm and become a more balanced version of yourself. It’s about becoming aware of your thoughts in any moment without judgment, being able to let go of emotions, opinions and expectations and instead to experience the present moment.
With Mindfulness being used across the board from Transport for London to the US Marines there’s a growing amount of evidence showing it’s effectiveness to improve happiness, relationships and calmness under pressure, to better deal with anxiety, plus experience improvements in both mental and physical health and fitness.
Here’s a super fast technique to de-stress at any time of the day. It’s ideal if you’re waiting for a meeting to start, if you’re on a bus or train, or you’re taking a tea break. You can basically use it anywhere except when driving!
Start by focusing all of your attention on your feet and simply feel them relaxing as if your muscles are letting go of any tension in them. Then move up to your calf muscles, then your thigh muscles doing the same. Continue slowly up your back, then down your arms to your fingers. From your neck, over your head, your face and jaw; all the time relaxing your muscles as go. It may seem simple, but you’ll be surprised how effective it is, please do give it a try.
I find a brilliant way to take the relaxation of your mind and body to another level is to listen to a guided relaxation. Do check out my Relax & Get Healthy and Relax & Get Slim relaxations here. When dealing with stress the body needs extra support and nourishment, after all it’s so easy for eating habits to suffer at such times. The best food supplements I recommend you take would specifically support your adrenals and immune system as follows:
Pantac is Vitamin B5 and is commonly known as the “Happy Vitamin” for mind and body. It helps reduce tiredness and fatigue. If you feel depleted by stress, Pantac can help counter this. Pantac also supports your brain cells for normal mental functioning. I genuinely notice a difference from taking Pantac. You can take a look right here.
