Eat Your Way To Radiant Skin
You are what you eat - if you’ve been around here for a while, you’ll know that this is my mantra. But can perfect pores and a completely flawless complexion really be achieved by watching what you eat? Actually, yes - absolutely it can, but there’s a catch (isn’t there always?). You see, skin is rather a complex organ. It demands nutrients and natural resources if it is to appear perfectly radiant. The good news is that food-fuelled beautiful skin is simply a matter of consuming the right amounts, of the right things.
Indulge in energy-giving, skin-firming complete protein foods
Complete protein foods such as fish, shellfish, grass-fed beef and organic eggs help firm and tone your body's lean tissue, including hair, skin and nails. As an added bonus, they also help you feel sprightly, full of energy and fuller for longer (always helpful for those on a weightloss regime).
Introduce healthy fats for skin that stays supple and hydrated
Not all fats are created equal – and in fact, so called ‘healthy fats’ could rightly be considered as an elixir of youth. I’m talking about those that are packed into avocados, extra virgin olive oil, nuts and seeds, each of which keep your skin supple, hydrated and elasticated – all key essentials for beautiful skin.
Get your daily dose of vitamin C – for a firm foundation for healthy skin
Your skin loves vitamin C, or more specifically, the antioxidant properties of vitamin C. This nutrient is critical in helping your body produce collagen (you know... the substance that keeps your skin bouncy and you fresh-faced).
However you probably associate vitamin C with oranges – and you’d of course be right, but strawberries, pineapple, bell peppers and Brussel sprouts each actually have more Vitamin C in per serving, than the average orange.
